Nature’s abundance
Cockadilly has ½ a kilometre of direct river frontage, a huge entertaining deck that overlooks the river and extensive camping areas.
For large groups, there are extensive camping areas, both beside the house and down alongside the river. Cockadilly is perfect for those using the area as a base from which to explore the region – four wheel driving, bushwalking, etc.The entertainment deck overlooking the river incorporates an open fireplace (firewood provided) with large rotating cooking plate, huge colonial dining table and chairs (seats 10) and a covered, outdoor kitchen with power and lighting, and including fridge/freezer, food preparation areas and sink – cooking outdoors in style!
With ½ a kilometre of direct river frontage, the river boasts areas of shallows (great for exploring by small – and big! – kids), ‘spa’ rapids and a deep swimming hole with rope swing directly below the house. Two platypus have been seen at dawn in this pool several times and small fish fingerlings are seen in abundance in the river.
We have also been reliably informed that trout have been caught on the river below this point in winter, so the challenge is there for those that want it – more deep pools and still sections of the river are found both upstream and downstream. Other wildlife include kangaroo, wallaby, possums, owls and echidna.
